This is a rant about my streaming television services in general, rather than anything specifically science fiction or horror or comics related.
Since this rant is mostly about my streaming services and about sports broadcasting, it doesn’t really fit into the typical Slice of SciFi content, so it ends up here.
This is the story of my television provider journey from Fubo to Hulu + Live TV, then back to Fubo, and why.
Yeah, I did that.
Even though I hated paying Fubo’s (unchanged) prices when they had lost the licensing rights to about 45 channels, leaving them for Hulu + Live TV was one of the worst choices I could have made.
I can officially state now, after much experimentation, I hate Hulu + Live TV. I hate it.

Here are my main reasons why:
1) There’s no way to get Hulu + Live TV without also subscribing to ESPN+
2) The navigation of Hulu’s live channel guide is horrible.
3) Navigating around other sections of Hulu while watching live TV is horrible.
4) The baseball blackout rules seem to be arbitrary, at least for where I am currently.
5) Coverage for MLB and soccer on Hulu + Live TV are nowhere near as comprehensive as they were on Fubo.
6) Recording stuff from Hulu Live is absolutely atrocious. Picking shows and teams to record is problematic.
6b) Recording live items on Hulu + Live TV is problematic, while Fubo is very generous.
So as of the first week of June, I’ve downgraded my Hulu back to the cheap Hulu-Disney-Max bundle and I have gone back to enjoying my sports on Fubo again.
I am curious to see what the proposed merger between Hulu + Live TV and Fubo brings about. And they absolutely better not add ESPN+ as any packages, other than an optional add-on.

For the record, I only spent one month on my return to Fubo.
I ended up adding the MLB Network and the Vix Premium subscriptions to my Prime Video, so I could get some out of market baseball games, and watch the LigaMX games.
What I didn’t expect was the shift of most Premier League games away from Peacock and back to USA Network and NBC. I had only upgraded to the paid tier from the free tier in order to be able to watch more EPL games (my account is old enough to still have access to the free tier, but I’m not sure if that would hold true if I downgraded again).
Now all I can do is watch the 3-4 games per weekend they air live, and watch replays of the other games 24 hours later. Which feels like a bait and switch scam since I don’t have access to USA Network anymore. Because for two years 90% of the games were on Peacock when all I could do was watch on USA, and now it’s flipped. Confusing and annoying LOL
